Cuba 1915 - Commercial cover from the Nassau Stamp Co., New York to Mr. Francisco Parras (of Puerto Principe stamp fame/notoriety)
Registered cover from the Nassau Stamp Company to Mr. Francisco Parras, the CamagŁey stamp dealer and Post Office official that played an important part in the issuance of the Puerto Principe provisional stamps back in 1898. On the back of the cover there is manuscript information, presumably in his handwriting: June 11, Le mando (I am sending) and Scott catalogue numbers and prices of four Puerto Principe stamps (182, $15.00 - 184, $17.00 - 205, $20.00 and 218, $27.00) sold by Mr. Parras to the Nassau Stamp Company for a total of $79.00. Interestingly, Mr. Parras was still selling Puerto Principe stamps 17 years after their issuance. There is a very nice advertising seal of the NASSAU STAMP CO. - POSTAGE STAMPS AND AUCTION SALES - 118 NASSAU ST. NEW YORK, NY, applied to the back of the cover. Interesting Havana transit postmark on reverse in which the day and month are placed at a 90 degree angle in relation to the year. Very nice and unusual. The cover has been slightly reduced at the left margin not affecting the printed corner card and when looking from the back, there is some loss of paper at the lower right corner.
