The U.S. Administration 2½c surcharge on 2c red stamp on an illustrated Military Mail cover from Capt. J. L. Veazy, Comd, Co. "D" Vol. to Illinois, USA. Envelope illustrated with "Recuerdos de La Habana" and views of "Estatua de la India", "Catedral de La Habana" and a view of the entrance to the Havana Harbor. Stamp placed slightly over the right edge of the envelope (the sender did not want to cover the picture of the Morro Castle) and folded under it. Cancelled with a partial strike of a MILITARY STA. No. 26 - BUENAVISTA, CUBA - FEB. 14, 1899 c.d.s. applied in black. THIS WAS VERY PROBABLY A VALENTINE'S DAY LETTER TO MISS. JENNIE CARTER. Envelope was cleanly opened at the left margin. There is some small loss of paper at the upper right and upper left corners. Very, Very nice. The MILITARY STATION NO. 26 marking is very scarce.
