SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD - Spain 1855 - Cuba 1858 - An unused, original gum, small hinge remnants, complete set of the Spanish Official stamps of 1855, Scott Spain O5-O8 (EDIFIL Spain 35-38) These Spanish Official stamps of 1855 were also used in Cuba and Puerto Rico (Spanish Antilles) beginning in 1858. It has been long accepted that for these stamps to be placed in a Cuba collection, they must be used on a cover from Cuba or at least, bear part of a readable Cuba cancellation. We can understand part of the reasoning behind this "rule" (for lack of a better word) but what about the other thirty or so Spanish Antilles stamps used in both Cuba and Puerto Rico up to the year 1874, or the stamps used in the Philippine Islands in 1855 or in Fernando Poo from 1869 to 1873? We do not have any problems placing those in our UNUSED Cuba stamp collections, despite the fact that they were also used in countries other than Cuba. For these reasons, we believe that an unused set of these Official stamps belongs in a Cuba unused stamp collection.
